The workspace may never be the same again. The COVID-19 pandemic has the contract office furniture industry redefining what office space will look like – and for good reason. When staff return to the office – and they will return! – we will shift to short, medium and long-term furniture solutions to ensure they feel safe and protected while at work.
A recent paper put out by CBRE, offers an interesting perspective on what offices will need to accommodate staff upon re-entry. Naturally, many of these items include: easy to clean materials, non-porous hard surfaces that are both anti-bacterial and antimicrobial and sanitation products integrated into all work settings.
What The Workspace Needs
However, one of the quick upgrades that most workspaces can easily integrate onto existing furniture are products that create division and social distancing. “This is going to be an important first-step as business owners and facility managers start to reassess their current office set-up,” says Mitchell Cohen, Dealer Principal, WSG (Workspace Group).
“If there’s one thing we have all learned very quickly from this pandemic, is the need for social distancing. A quick fix can be the addition of stackable panels. WSG can configure panels to suit nearly any workspace set-up.”
Workspace Retrofit with Stackable Panels

Original workstation had 46″ panels. WSG is able to add stack-on panels (as shown above) with hard surfaces including glass. This still allows light to shine through, keep employees safe and comfortable.

Here is an office divider solution for a height adjustable desk. This screen easily clips on to any existing table, desk or work surface.

This is a stackable, hard surface solution. For easy cleaning, WSG recommends a painted metal or laminate finish.
