Boutique Hotel Features Herman Miller
Boutique hotels are known for creating a cool vibe pulsing in the heart of the city. The Vandermarck, located in downtown Collingwood, is breaking the mold when it comes to luxury lodgings in this four-season Ontario playground. Furniture selection played a big part in creating that boutique hotel feel; so, it’s no surprise that pieces from Herman Miller are featured front and centre.
Renown for its skiing, Collingwood has blossomed into a true four-season resort attracting families looking to escape the city. Yvonne and Randy Weinstein, plus their four kids, were one of those families. Making the trip to Collingwood became part of their family weekend ski routine. Over the years, the couple soon realized the growing potential of the community. “Everything starts at the mountain, but we also felt the downtown core was growing as its own destination,” says Yvonne Weinstein who along with her husband Randy, own The Vandermarck. “Our vision was to create a beautiful boutique hotel with all the comfort and luxury well-seasoned travellers would come to expect.”
Boutique hotel chic
Creating the right vibe naturally started with the furniture selection. “The hardest part was choosing the furniture!” says Yvonne Weinstein. “When I first walked into WSG, I wanted one of everything! The furnishings needed to convey this boutique hotel is something special. We knew that Herman Miller furniture was so well made, making it perfect for the wear and tear in a hotel. The pieces we chose are recognizable and make a statement. We know that travellers will walk into one of rooms and immediately recognize the Noguchi table or the Eames Hang-It-All.”
“From our own travels and experiences, we had a defined vision for a boutique hotel: clean, quality, luxury, private and minimalist. WSG’s knowledge of the Herman Miller product was key to helping creating that look.”
Offering An Elevated Experience
“Collingwood now boasts a blossoming downtown with fine dining and high end shopping,” says Ashley Martin of Sawatski Concept Realty. Therefore, the Vandermarck is right in tune with what people will expect from a boutique hotel. We aim to offer travellers an elevated experience with a ‘home away from home’ feel – whether it’s for short or long-term stays.”
“We are thrilled with the results!”
The Vandermarck represents one of WSG’s first boutique hotel installation. “Our philosophy is to be with the customer every step of the way,” says Mitchell Cohen, Dealer Principal, WSG. “Working with the client’s design in mind, our team worked hard to achieve that vision. And we’re thrilled with the results!”
